Twisted Love Story

“Jessica! Wake up now!!”  My mother yells for what seems like the thirtieth time from downstairs. I groan and roll over. I feel around for my phone, and finally find in next to my pillow.

Of course being the stupid idiot I am, I forgot to turn the brightness down last night, and nearly blinded myself when I turned it on.

I let out a yelp and literally threw my phone across the room. It hit the carpet with a thud. I let out another loud groan and start contemplating on whether I should just ignore the issues today and just sleep.

I sigh. I have to go to class today because I can get held back in year 12 if I don’t go. They only check attendance in home room so I can just leave after that.

After about ten minutes of trying to get out of bed I finally managed to make my way to the bathroom and grab my phone on the way. I shut the bathroom door, and looked towards the mirror. My curly red hair was all over the place, and my green eyes looked tired and dull. I could barely see because I did not have my glasses on, but I could still see fairly fine.

I grab my brush from the drawer, and run it through my hair a few times. Tangles for days.

I sigh for the millionth time today and just ran my hands through it.

I splash my face with a bit of water, then went back into my room, where I picked out some clothes. Just the normal, jeans, and my hoodie. Nothing special.

I slipped on my shoes, and stuffed my things into my book bag, then I was set for the day. I opened my door, and then locked it on my way out. I have a key I keep with my around my neck for the door. People think I’m hiding things in there or something, but the truth is, that I just don’t like people going into my room.

I walk down the stairs, and then make my way into the kitchen, where I find my mother and older sister sitting, and eating breakfast.

My mother and I look nothing alike. She has dark brown straight hair and brown eyes and she’s a skinny short woman, I on the other hand have red curly hair and green eyes. I am kind of in the middle of thick and skinny, more of an awkward state to be in, but I don’t mind it much though. I’m also fairly tall for my age.

My sister and I are complete and utter opposites. Her short blonde hair, and blue eyes, are just like our late father. She is a fake, prissy blonde, and I hate her.

I swear I’m adopted or something.

I snap out of thought and look around, on the counter, stove, etc. and see no more food.

“Wow, thanks for saving me some” I mutter under my breath.

They don’t seem to even notice me. I sigh, once again, and just leave the room.

You should just skip school today. It would be much easier to not go, then to go and get beat up again.

“Shut up Jamie” I mutter to the voice in my head. “I can’t do that, if I miss once more day I fail senior year.”

So? Who really cares?

I feel my legs stop, and I no longer have control over them, they are locked in place.

“You’ve kind of have a good point there, I don’t even need to go to school. I’ll just not graduate, not get a job, and not get out of this hell whole we call a home.” I say sarcastically.

Jamie just shut up and let her go to school. If she wants to go she can.

Lia speaks up. I gain control again. I sigh and walk down the driveway, and onto the sidewalk.

“Thanks Lia” I say quietly.

No problem, Hun.

So yeah, those were the voices in my head. I know I seem insane, but honestly I don’t think I am.

There are actually three of them. Jamie, Lia, and J-Jake. Jake doesn’t talk much, but when he does it scares the crap out of me, because he is always telling me to murder someone, or hurt them. He has even pressured me into hurting myself. Yeah I have done that before, but for different reasons, not because he told me to.

He doesn’t seem like he’s there most of the time, but I know he is. He’s always watching and listening.

I shudder at the thought, but soon shake it off. I was close to the school now, and I could see the parking lot, and the top part of the main building.

The walk from my house wasn’t very far, but if I went around through the wood behind my house, it would take less time. That wood gives me the creeps though. Like I used to play in those woods all the time when I was little. I remembered it as fun and really pretty, but now it’s just really creepy. I always feel, watched.

I walk up to the school, and as soon as I step in the five minute warning bell sounds off. I scurry to my class, and make it just in time, because the final bell ran as soon as I entered.

The teacher gave me a glare and told me to take a seat. I shuffle over to my seat by the window, and sat down. The teacher started to talk, and I just tune her out with my music that I had blasting in my ears.

I soon pull out my binder, and multiple notebooks. I sketch on a few of the pages, and before I knew it the bell had rung. I gathered up my stuff and was going to head out but I was stopped by Jasmine.

Ugh I was so over this bitch. She saw the disgust on my face and smirked.

“Hey freak, whatcha got there?” She ripped the notebook from my arms and started to look through it.

“Awe it’s a diary.” She say, giving me a quick smirk before ripping the pages out. It wasn’t a diary. It was my notebook for creative writing, and she just ruined it.

All my hard work down the drain.  That was a three subject notebook almost filled front and back with stories, and it was all for nothing now.

I looked at her with pure hatred in my eyes, and before I could stop myself I slapped her upside the head, which shocked her. I pulled the notebook from her hands, and pushed her out of the way.

I walked really fast away from her, and I felt a million eyes shooting daggers into me, but honestly I don’t care.

I exit through the back doors, I didn’t feel like dealing with this all day so I decided to skip the rest of my classes.

Before I knew what I was doing I walked into the wood, and was on the trail that led to my house. For some reason I didn’t get the uneasy feeling I usually get when I’m out here.

I felt, free.

It was so beautiful out today, I loved it. It was nice to go outside for once and actually enjoy it, instead of only going outside because I have to.

I walked through, seeing a few animals every so often. But when I neared my house I became wary of my surroundings and saw that there was another trail I never noticed before.

I look around the little bend it made in the trees, and saw that it went on for a while. I got the familiar uneasy feeling, and decided it wasn’t a good idea to go there alone, or at all in that matter.

I couldn’t help but feel like I was being watched, but I think it was just my imagination, or my mind playing tricks on me.

I sigh and turn around. It felt really dangerous out here and I didn’t want to be here any longer, but something was drawing me to the small pathway.

It’s a bad idea, Jess.

Jamie’s voice rang in my ears.

“Shut up I know it’s a bad idea, but can’t you feel it? It’s like it is drawing me in.” I say in a whisper.

He didn’t answer after that, just stayed quiet.

I started walking down the path. It was narrow, but I know it lead somewhere.

The uneasiness got worse and I felt like multiple eyes were on me.

Hun, I think it would be a good idea if you turn back, it’s getting dark and soon you won’t be able to find your way back.

Lia’s voice rang in my head.

“What-“I look around and see that she’s right. It was almost dark.

“How is it almost dark? I left school at 9 in the morning.”

You’ve been walking for hours, how have you not noticed?

“But I was walking for like ten minutes, what the hell?” I whisper to myself.

Lia tells me to turn back now, and I obeyed, mostly because the feeling of being watched was getting stronger.

She had stopped talking then, and left me with my own thoughts, as I walked back towards where I originally was.

Apparently I had been walking for hours because it took an hour and a half to get back to the cross roads, where my house and the trail was. It was almost pitch black when I walked up to my door, and of course everyone had gone to sleep, not caring about where I was. That’s what I thought until I see the back door closer. The glass had been broken and the wood on the outside had been kicked in and scratched at. Paint and wood chips, along with shards of glass covered the ground inside and out.

I pushed the door open and the eerie smell of copper hit my nose.

Blood.

I cringed and gagged at the smell.

I knew I had to find out what it was coming from, even if I didn’t want to.

I took a few steps in and covered my nose and mouth to reduce the smell.

With more shaky steps I make my way to where the smell is strongest, which happens to be the kitchen.

As I turn the corner I gasp slightly as I see someone, White hoodie covered in blood, black jeans, and what seemed as singed black hair.

He was facing away from me and I could see that he had a knife to my older sister’s neck.

I didn’t think he had seen me yet, so I slowly made my way t the right of the counters, where the knives were placed.

With a swift quiet movement I snatched up a medium sized one, usually used to cut meat, as my mother used to say.

I hold my stance and walk behind him. He stopped before attempting to plunge the knife into the blondes’ neck, obviously aware of my presence.

I hear a low chuckle before he turns and swings his knife towards me, cutting the fabric of my hoodie.

A growl escapes my throat before I swing and slice his arm with one swift movement.

“Had some practice I see.” The sentence escapes his lips before yet another low chuckle. He lunges at me. With a fast movement I block his attack with a quick step to the left and a fasts stab to his shoulder. He hissed as I pulled it out, and just as soon as that happened he was on his feet again. He lunged forward and this time I wasn’t quick enough, and was now pinned to the wall, his blood covered knife to my neck.

“This was fun wasn’t it…I love a good fight once in a while.” I could now his face, which was in fact gruesome.

Pale skin, Dark eyes, and worst of all, the smile.

The bloody smile stretched cheek to cheek, and you can easily see through to his mouth, where sat a set of somewhat sharp white teeth.

“Scared yet baby girl~”

I lost it.

“I’m not scared of you, hell not even the slightest. And don’t call me that, I’m not a pet, I don’t need a fucking nickname.” I spat out.

He just chuckled.

He pressed the tip of the knife to my neck and pushed it into my skin. I didn’t bat an eyelid. He does not deserve to see me reacting to the pain he is causing me.

“Don’t like the nickname huh? Well what’s your name baby girl” He purrs.

I clench my teeth.

“Just kill me now. You don’t deserve to know anything about me if you are just going to kill me off” I hiss through clenched teeth.

He smirked through the permanent smile etched into his face.

“Tsk, Tsk, Attitude much?” He laughs and presses the edge of the blade deeper in my neck, bringing it to the right slightly, causing what I think was a small gash.

To my surprise I can barely feel the pain anymore.

“Why won’t you fucking react?!” He says loudly in my face.

It was my turn to laugh.

“I’m not giving you the satisfaction of seeing me in pain”

He was thrown off by this, which gave me the advantage.

I push him away swiftly and grabbed the knife that had been thrown from my hand moments earlier.

I gripped the handle.

As a result of pushing him away, caused his knife to deeply slide across my neck. I felt the warm thick liquid slide down my neck.

All of my anger towards everyone who has ever done me wrong had built up.

I tried to lunge towards the serial killer, but was stopped by someone tackling me to the ground.

“Jess no!! You can’t kill Jeff!!” The voice of my sister rang out.

“What the fuck are you talking about?!? He was about to kill you!! Are you mentally insane?!?!” I yell at her.

“He’s immortal, he can’t die you dumb ass!!” She yells back.

Those words rang in my ears. Jeff, Immortal, This can’t be. He’s not real! This cannot be happening!!

“I need you to run and don’t stop, I’ll buy you some time” She whispers, tears streaming down her face and mixing with her blood, before getting up off of me and lunging herself towards Jeff.

“Megan!!” I scream.

“Just go!! Do it for me Jess, I love you, now LEAVE!” She yells before getting attacked by Jeff.

I wipe some tears and get up off of the floor I take one more look at her before I ran out of the house.

Before I stepped out I hear choking, and I knew she was gone.

I have been running for about two now. My muscles ache and my chest burns. I was in no shape to be running this much but I am too terrified too stop.

It had started raining about twenty minutes ago, and it doesn’t help the situation at all. My hair stuck to my face and my clothes clung to my skin, and it is making it extremely difficult to do any of this.

There has been only two cars that had passed and both times I tried to hitch hike a ride, but they just passed by.

I was in the part of town that has a lot of wooded area, and I was on one of the main road/highways.

The town wasn’t very well known so I wasn’t surprised when there were few cars. I had come across a few gas station here and there but I never bothered to stop.

I really need to get to a motel or something. I can’t do this all night.

Down the road I can see yet again another gas station.

The past few gas stations were about a mile or two back, and those ones seemed like the usual ones you would find in a town, city, etc. But this one was weird. As I neared it I saw the name of it properly.

I had never seen this one before, like it wasn’t the usual CircleK or Hess, it was something completely new.

I stopped running and slowed my pace to a walk. It was at least 4 am now so I doubt they are open, but as I got to the door I saw they were, surprisingly. There was a cashier sitting there tapping on her phone and watching a tv.

I quickly hide the knife I was gripping in my pocket, and fixed my hood over my head and hair, trying to cover up the blood that was on my neck.

I head in and the cashier looks up surprised when she sees me.

“Good morning,” She mumbles out, but then goes back t paying attention to the tv.

I nod. “Morning” My voice came out hoarse and scratchy, but I quickly cleared my throat and said it again.

I give her a slight smile before turning on my heel and walking to get a water bottle from the back shelf. I grabbed it and made my way back up to the counter.

I cleared my throat once more before setting the bottle on the counter, and pulling out my wallet from my pocket.

The money was soaked.

I groan out loud. “Sorry it’s kind of wet.” I mutter out.

She nods, “Its fine, money is money”

She takes the soaking wet bill from my hands and rings up the bottle.  While she was doing so I tried to make small talk.

“So… why is this place open at 4 am?” I ask.

She shrugs.

“Don’t ask me, I just have the job. I am told to be here from midnight to eight in the morning.” She stifles a laugh.

“What about you, what are you doing here at four am?” She asked curiously.

“I-“I cut myself off, contemplating on how I could say the story without saying something weird or creepy.

Just tell her you are just trying to get away from someone.

Jamie’s voice rang in my head.

“I’m just trying to get away from someone, that’s it.” I mutter.

“From whom may I ask?”

“No one you need to worry about” I say harshly.

I didn’t mean for it to come out like that, it’s just the thought of what Jeff did makes me want to murder him.

I sigh.

“Sorry I’m just on edge.”

It was silent for a moment until the TV went off.

“We are now live outside of the Caylen residence. It seems as if the house has been torn up and the bodies of Megan Caylen, Andrea Caylen, and Corey Caylen have been found. Reports from neighbors have said that they had heard screaming and crashing before they saw the youngest daughter, Jessica Caylen, run out of the house. Here is a recent picture of her. She might be a suspect in the family’s murder, of she might have been trying to run from whomever did this. If you have any information on where she might be, call 911 and report it immediately.”

My breath caught in my throat as the cashier turned from me to the picture.

Her eyes darted to her phone that was sitting on the counter beside her.

I looked her dead in the eyes and shook my head no.

“Don’t do it” I growl.

“b-but y-you k-killed them!” She says, her eyes watering up.

“I was trying to get away, I did not kill my family” I growl out again.

She darted her eyes back to the phone. She grabbed it quickly and darted for the back work room.

I felt something wash over me as Jake took me over.

“She told you not too” He chuckled darkly.

Then I completely blacked out. I don’t remember what had happened after that.

I gasp slightly as I come too again.

The familiar smell of copper hit my nose and I was scared to look behind me.

I looked down to my hands, they were stained with the crimson red.

For some reason I wasn’t fazed by it. I was freaking out on the inside but on the outside I felt like a crazed maniac.

I took a deep breath and turned on my heel.

The sight was gruesome but again I wasn’t fazed.

The girl was on the floor, her face bruised and her neck cut open. Her arms and legs were curled up, probably from the amount of pain she was in.

She was shaking and struggling for breath.

With a deep breath I walk over to her.

“I’m sorry.” I whisper.

She choked out something but I didn’t quite hear it.

“What was that” I ask and lean closer.

“P-put m-me out o-of-f m-my misery-y” She choked on her blood.

I sighed and reached into my pocket, gripping the knife.

I pulled it out and brought it to her chest.

“I’m sorry, it’s not my fault.” I say before I stab it into her heart. She gasps once more before going limp.

I couldn’t help it, a creepy smile played at my lips while I pulled it out of her chest. Blood instantly started to pour out of her body.

I suddenly heard the door open. I abruptly stood up and looked towards the door.

He chuckled.

“Nice to see you again, princess ~ “I clench my teeth and grip the knife in my hand.

“I like what you’ve done with the place” He says and strides over to where I was. I hold my stance as he neared me.

“I watched your little show. Nice work, Princess”

“Don’t fucking call me that” I spat at him.

All I received was a laugh.

“Awe is the kitten mad?”

He was now in front of me I had my knife to his stomach, and he was twirling his knife in front of my face.

“Just leave me be, I have no fucking clue why you insist on stalking me” I growl.

He grinned through his already cut in smile, and leaned in closer until our noses were almost touching.

“Oh princess, you are a witness, I never let those go”

With that I pushed him away from me.

He growled and his eyes darkened.

“Come at me bro, I dare you” I say and narrow my eyes.

He chuckles.

“Bring it on, Princess”
